Hunting

The traditional modes of hunting are followed (eg. In the dangerous game area, the hunting is done mostly by driving the area, checking water holes, etc, until fresh spoor is found, this would then be assessed by professional hunters and trackers, and if they deem worthwhile, followed). These excursions could take anywhere from 30 minutes up to 7 hours. Hunters should be in reasonable shape. Plains game hunting is done by spot and stalk.

The minimum caliber allowed in Zimbabwe is .375 cal for dangerous game. For plains game hunting, a medium caliber rifle (from .300 cal and up) is required. Hunters should be very comfortable and confident with their weapons (practice is advised). The range of shot distance is from 25 yards up to 250 yards. Most dangerous game are shot from less than 100 yards.

Typically, hunts start with a wake-up call at 5:30 AM. Coffee and toast will be served (unless full breakfast is requested). The majority of times lunch will be had in the bush. Cocktails and dinner are served at the main lodge.

You will be encountering elephants and buffalo daily. You may hear hyenas and lions during the evening. Our hunters have the opportunity at taking 6 of the dangerous 7 of the Africa big game in our area. The hunting area consists of large flood plains, mopane forests, rolling hills, and thick jesse bush.

Emphasis will be placed on old, mature, quality trophies.
